Heather and George had a very stylish wedding at the newly remodeled Aloft hotel in downtown Dallas, a very funky and eclectic hotel. We had great backgrounds and textures to shoot against that made this a very fun wedding to photography. I look forward to putting together their fine art book, and really getting into all the great images that we shoot at this awesome event.

I wish you guy’s my very best and thank you for trusting me to capture this great event for you two.

Mike and Kacey had an awesome spring wedding set in the beautiful Hill country near Meridian, Texas. Other than the 30 mph winds, it was a bright and sunny day. The ranch was a great backdrop for all the detail at this wedding, from the handmade wooden benches that were branded with their intials, to the chandelier hanging from the lighted tree next to the big tent. I was uber excited when Mike (lead singer of country music’s Eli Young Band) and his lovely fiance Kacey, hired me. Mike was kind enough to sign my daughter’s guitar, and now every time she hears the song “Guinevere’’ on the radio, she gets a big smile and thinks I’m cool for shooting Mike Eli’s wedding and wants to know why I’m not shooting Carrie Underwood’s or now Miranda Lamberts wedding… me too!

The Wedding Party Studio & Ebby Halliday Realtors Lovenest Shoot For Dallas Morning News Full Page Ad…

I Was asked to shoot a day after session by Robin Yeager the owner of The Wedding Party Studio (Dallas Premier wedding resource and library). This shoot was shot for Ebby Halliday Realtors for a full page ad in the Dallas Morning News, which today 02.09.10 was published in the business section last page. Ashley who works at The Wedding Party Studio was our lovely bride and her husband Wes was a great sport and they both did a great job!

WeTV session “Bridal Session”

I was contacted to see if I would interested in shooting a bridal session for a upcoming TV show on WeTV. I saw the promo and loved the promo, so I agreed. Thought I would throw up a few behind the scene shots taken by my great assistant Rob Nickerson, thanks Rob. There was this moment when the Bride (Hannah) little girl walk up beside me and I asked her if she wanted to take some pictures of mommy. Well, I held the camera, showed her were to press the button and she got a couple of great shots. I think everybody around was wondering why they hired me to take the pictures…Of course anyone using a Nikon can get a great shot!

As you can see, my studio is a bit tight and once I had my lights set the production company added to it and made the space even tighter. Had a great time! A big thanks to my good friend Alberto for jumping in and helping me style the set (Durango Furniture Rocks). Now on with the show…

Well, just finished designing a save the date card for Kacey & Mike. Very excited about their upcoming ranch wedding. Soon, I will be posting some really fun e-session pics of our day trip down to Austin and New Braunfels.

Outside of my great love for photography is my other great passion is design. I plan to really ramp it up in 2010 and offer brides and other photographers something a bit more designed than what is out there.

TOP TEN TIPS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY!

This list comes from the the Weddingchicks.com Great info and I hope you find very helpful…

1. Choose if you will see each other before the ceremony for photos or wait until after the ceremony based on the time of year and the time the sun will set. Ask your photographer when the light will be the best for photos.

2. Get a nice hanger for your dress. Have shoes, rings (clean please), and bouquet ready for photos.

3. Be sure that the getting ready room has plenty of natural light, is tidy, and not too crowded with people.

4. If you have a corset style dress, allow 20 minutes for lacing.

5. Shoes, shoes, shoes!!! Every bride wants to wear beautiful shoes on her wedding, but oh, the price she pays in PAIN!! Bring a comfy pair of shoes to wear for your reception.

6. Inform family members and wedding party to stay close after the ceremony.

7. Serve salads BEFORE speeches. Speeches that run long make for wilting salads and put dinner behind schedule.

8. Serve your vendors as you are served so they can take a break and be back for all of the action! No one likes their picture taken while they are eating anyway, so it’s the perfect time.

9. Don’t hold you cake ransom! Cut and serve your cake about an hour after dinner. Guests tend to enjoy their cake and coffee. We are pretty sure that the sugar and caffeine give them a second wind!

10. Enjoy your day, don’t let the little things upset you. It’s a little late at this point to worry about things not being perfect, so just go with the flow and have fun!! Remember, this is about your WEDDING and the commitment you are making to each other – not about your napkins being the wrong color. It’s a day never to forget. Be humble, graceful, be grateful, and be a beautiful person on your special day.

Nikki & Travis e-session

Well, I mentioned in my previous post, the fair was a popular place to shoot. Nikki and Travis showed up early on Sunday morning the last day of the fair. Was very excited to get started and see what fun shots we would come up with. We also were schedule to go to a second location and upon our arrival at the second location, someone forgot to bring Nikki’s boots. So, to save Travis butt, I was happy to re-scheduled to shoot on another day. It all worked out great, I’m sure they will enjoy the pictures and the memories for a long time to come. Thanks guy’s for such a fun time taking your pictures. By the way, Travis is a fireman which may explain a few pictures below. Travis and Nikki, you Guy’s Rock!
